some of my best friends are scattered all around new england. i go to visit, see the sights, and see my friends. i try to only bring as much as i can fit in my small suitcase which is actually closer to the size of a large briefcase. i enjoyed packing; knowing i have to pick with care, curating the contents to tailor the place and length of the trip.

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; sizing up the big sweatshirt

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KP2SotYgUeI/TsWfracMagI/AAAAAAAAAaI/Df3aZqoflZE/s1600/IMG_1452.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; cut the sides and sleeves

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xbmLqHMsDP0/TsWhevpXwWI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/J1zx12QRz3A/s1600/IMG_1455.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; sew!

(not pictured) turn the inside out and match up the sides. if you feel more comfortable you can pin it in place, but i always just sew on a wing and a prayer. sew up the side until you reach the base of the curve of the sleeve opening.

step four: trim the sleeve

simply cut along the hem of the sleeve.

step five: the only tricky part (its not that tricky)

since the body of the sweatshirt is smaller, you are going to have to make the sleeve smaller! to do this, fit the sleeve into the sleeve opening so outside to outside are touching. orientate the sleeve so the bottom hem is towards the bottom of of the sleeve opening. go around the edge of the sleeve opening pushing all of the excess fabric to the bottom. now you will have extra fabric (pictured about with the arrow). put a pin at the base of the excess fabric.

it sounds scary, but it's not. once you are at this point you will understand, i promise.

step six: taking in the sleeves

now that you know how big the top of the sleeve has to be, start from the pin and sew down to the cuff. you can use your fitting sweatshirt as a guide (more advisable) or you could do like i did and wing it (less advisable). actually just measure it against your guide sweatshirt. i don't want to be responsible for any extended periods with a seam ripper.

step seven: sewing the sleeve opening

(not pictured) pop that sleeve into the seam opening just like before. making sure that outside of the sweatshirt and the outside of the sleeve are touching. start at the base of the sleeve and sew around, using about 3/8 seam allowance.

now your done! slim fit!

but wait, do you maybe want to make that hoody a boat neck?

step eight: text-align: center;">

photoquilt! yes. since i didn't want to drive the half mile to staples i would SEW the pictures together. sometimes being tired has it's advantages, let's begin!

what you'll need:
-photographs, postcards, or anything on somewhat sturdy paper
-computer paper or newspaper
-tape (double stick is nice, but not necessary)
-sewing machine
-thread

step one: plan out the collage

this is the fun part. play around with different placements, move them around! it took me awhile, but that's mostly because i had so many pictures to choose from (i also have a thing with colors).

step two: lay your design out on paper

depending on how big your design is going to be you may have to tape a few pieces of paper together like i did. you could also tape your design onto newspaper for a bigger work surface. newspaper is also easier to work with when removing the paper after everything is sewn.

(sorry the color is a little off on these pictures, it was night time and i couldn't get the lighting right)

step three: tape!

after you have the layout how you like it, go through to each picture and apply double stick tape (or a loop of regular tape) to the back and secure them in place.

step four: sew the tops and bottoms of the pictures

this part may seem a little scary, but you'll get the hang out it. basically all you want to do is sew a straight line on the top of each row and the bottom of each row. don't pick up the machine's foot when you reach the end of a picture, just keep sewing (this is what will string them together). start each row with about 5 inches of string and leave about 5 inches on the end.

step five: sew the sides of the pictures

sew the tops and bottoms for each row. when you have sew all the row's tops and bottoms, turn your paper 90 degrees and start sewing the side, just how you sewed the tops and bottoms.

step six: remove the paper

now that your all sewn up, all you have to do is pop out the paper. do this carefully so you don't rip the thread. the best technique i found was to poke a hole in the paper with scissors and then pull the paper away.

boom! photoquilt.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; jack-o-lantern. and although halloween as already come and gone (i was a little late with my posting) this stencil can still be used for any assortment of projects: t-shirts, graffiti, non-halloween pumpkins, and more.

get creative, put on an episode of parx, and find good use for this:
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto;
